Among the many rigorous liberal arts colleges Birmingham Southern College has face sever financial troubles the past few years. Because of this they have had to cut multiple programs, majors and faculty. Growing in the south eastern region of the United States the school had a highly respected reputation. The school is still trying to maintain there past reputation, which is no longer valid. As with all companies, communities change throughout life's cycle. Nothing ever stays the same. They still portray the image of haveing 96% of the faculty of having the highest degrees in there field and there class are taught by 100% professors. The truth is they have undergraduate student who are teacher assistants. The teacher assistant is not qualified. Many of the courses are taught by an adjunct. The college also has a major pest problem and due to lack of there financial resources they do not maintain the buildings. They simply wait until the bug problem becomes a health hazard. Everyday in the news media is discussion about the high cost of higher education, which is such a sacrifice for many family's. We as customers should get what we pay for and nothing else. The schools mission is maintain and increase there enrollment to stay afloat. You as the parent worked to hard to for your money and to keep your children on the road for scussess. You the student worked way to hard during high school years to get into a great college. In the end it is an individuals belief and option of where they choose to attend but beware!
