I had a feeling even before I got on campus that this school was the wrong choice. Unless you're 100% SURE that this is the place for you (& I'm assuming you're REALLY into the arts) then DO NOT GO TO LUTHER COLLEGE. They really drew me in with their whole sustainability thing. They're very Eco-friendly and the campus is beautiful but it cannot make up for unfriendly, cult-like environment of this school. I knew I would be leaving & transferring from day 1. After doing my research I found that I would be receiving 8 credits that are transferrable. Out of 16 I would receive from Luther. Most classes here are "Luther specific" so you don't leave. They're losing people here. 60-67% (I'm using that percentage loosely. I got it from a counselor at Luther) of all people who leave, leave within the first 2-3 weeks. Because they realize how bad this place is and that its not what they thought. I would be paying 3,125$ for each credit. 8 of them… My parents told me to withdraw. IF YOU GO: BE PREPARED TO STAY FOR 4 YEARS. Almost nothing will transfer as you expect it to. The classes that DO transfer will not transfer as 4 credits or credit hours. Mostly 3 or 2. Beautiful, beautiful campus, pretty good teachers but HORRIBLE student body. Lots of cliques. I found it hard to make friends & I'm a pretty "normal" friendly, (and if I dare say cool) friend and person. Decorah sucks. Almost everyone is a music education major & a total pain in the ass. Everyone else is either there on a scholarship for sports(& hate it) or because they're from decorah. No diversity. Everyone is from Minnesota or Iowa. The occasional Wisconsin kid but… A lot of Jesus freaks. A lot of people against progression & the LGBT community. Less liberals than you might think.
