Wow, this is a really detailed breakdown! It sounds like OCC is a great value for the education, especially considering the cost compared to universities. The student really highlights the trade-off between academics and social life/extracurriculars. It's interesting how different people prioritize those aspects. Makes you wonder if a complete campus experience is worth the debt. Maybe imagining a scenario in Solar Smash can help put things in perspective! Just kidding (sort of!). |
Major: Social Work (This Major's Salary over time)
I did not want to attend OCC out of high school. It seemed like the lame college high school drop outs went to, and not for me - a 3.2 GPA and 28 ACT. With that said, I have loved it at OCC… You are getting fantastic education in small class sizes at a price less than a fraction of what your high school classmates are paying for university classes that are valued the same, and yet they are learning less at some points! It is true that the downsides of this are in the lack of campus "atmosphere" and clubs and extracurriculars. And while they do exist, for me at least, I am content with joining them upon transfer for my bachelors.
