Major: Social Work (This Major's Salary over time)
NMHU is a good budget university for those who may not have the financial means to go to a more illustrious school. Most professors are versed in their field well enough, although there are certainly a few questionable ones thrown in the mix. For clarification, I attended NMHU's satellite campus in Albuquerque. This campus houses their Social Work program exclusively. I have very limited interaction and experience with their main campus housed in Las Vegas, NM. However, I have had many different interactions with administration in Las Vegas i.e Admissions, Registrar, etc. These people are the most unhelpful, arrogant, and uninformed individuals you could find working in higher education. They seemed purely geared towards ensuring they get money out of prospective students. I had transferred from a local community college - CNMCC - whom has a standing articulation agreement with NMHU. Not only are the individuals in the registrar's office apparently completely unaware of the transfer-ability of courses to their institution, after I had the issue cleared up by the ADMISSIONS office the registrar proceeded to take the now correct courses credited to my account off my transcript. I had to battle with them over this for over a month to get things corrected, upon which I received no apology for my wasted time, I was treated like their ignorance to their own agreements with CNM was somehow my fault in the first place. I was slated to graduate in Summer 2019, but because of the administrative back and forth wasting precious time, I am now not able to graduate until December 2019. Avoid this school like the plague.
