Major: Chemistry (This Major's Salary over time)
I've gone to this school for 4 years at the on-campus high school for 6 years as a university student (UG and Grad). The faculty is against you. The administration staff will argue with you. The parking services throw the book at you. This university hates critique, as do the professors. Over the decade I've been around ETSU, I've had many interactions with the staff. I've known SGA members who get free passes on rules that are always enforced on normal students. The biology department will never be on your side except for a few faculty members. Health sciences has many caring members in it. The English department is extremely biased against men. The Spanish, German, and Japanese classes are amazing. There are mostly good math teachers with a few bad apples. The business programs are decent here, but most people come out learning very little. ETSU has pretty good performing arts programs, but I only know a few people who have pursued anything in performing arts after graduation. Graduate programs are good, but you would be better going to UT-K or Vanderbilt if you can get in there. I've had a few friends get a history or english master's degree and they come out knowing a lot of information, but they hardly did their research with the faculty because the faculty members are mainly there for a paycheck. I've only stayed here because I found a really cheap place around here. I've probably had 1 good encounter at this university for every 99 bad encounters. Stay far away from this school. All the money I saved in housing, ETSU effectively seized from me. They decided to build an entire football field that costed $23 million including $125 from student semester tuition with $4 million annually including coach salaries on average 32 % higher than the salaries of professors and a head coach making more than $150k. But ETSU is also fine with charging you, a poor college student, $40 for mistakenly parking in a faculty spot or leaving your hazards on to grab something from a building for two minutes and fine you $200 (friend of mine, fortunately not me) when the tuition budget for parking passes is already $70 annually. Though these incidents are minor, ETSU will take every chance it can get to take more of your money. You're just another cog in their machine, and unless you're in SGA, that's all they'll see you as during your years at ETSU.
