Here are a few highlights from my days at Jonestown:
  • Demerits for not vacuuming my room on time.
  • Demerits for being late to class and skipping class.
  • “Campused” because I was holding hands with my girlfriend outside of the time allowed on a “dating outing”.
  • Placed on “spiritual probation” because my room general did not see me having devotions often enough.
  • Almost expelled for listening to the “world’s music”.
  • Ordered to get a haircut because my hair was not “skin tapered” in the back.
  • Required to attend chapel Monday through Friday and Church on Sunday. Only exception was if you were in the hospital.
  • Had to wear a tie off campus.
  • Had to wait in line and get permission from the Dean of Men to go off campus.
  • Pray every night with my roommates and lights out by 11:00.
  • More demerits for “horseplay”. Wrestling with a friend.
  • Could not talk to my girlfriend after 6:00.
  • Reprimanded for walking too slow with my girlfriend.
  • Dates off campus required a member of faculty and you had to also pay for their dinner.
