Major: Nursing (This Major's Salary over time)
My brother just graduated this year from BJ, I will graduate next year, and my younger brother is about to start in the fall. I would say that BJU's nursing school is THE BEST academically that I know of. The hospitals we go to for clinical "sing our praises" for the students and grads that they get. About 3 months beofre he graduated, my brother had 3 job offers at 2 differents hospitals! During the summers I have worked in a hospital in NJ and the people I work with all compliment me on my critical thinking and are pleasently suprised of the amount of knowledge that I have already. I am daily amazed at the amount of knowledge I can apply to my patients on a daily basis, and how I can "see things" that my nurses miss. The academics at BJ are very challenging, but coming through it all I can see my faith and trust in God bringing me through. I have also been blessed in having a GREAT group of solid, growing Christian friends. COming home for the summer is such a letdown because I have my dead-in-the-water friends here. I miss my buddies! The friends you make at BJ are your best friends for life. The rules don't usually bother me. Sometimes it is frustrating to have to abide by some rules when I feel that I have "extenuating circumstances". For example, my boyfriend (soon to be fiance) is a marine currently in Iraq. Before he left the only time he was able to call me to talk because of his schedule, my schedule and the time difference was after 11pm. The rule is that you are not allowed to talk on cell phones after 11pm. This was very frustrating for me to realize this, I felt that I was being deprived of a "right". After a long talk with my boyfriend the issue was resolved, and I am better off from the decision I made to follow that rule. As with any rule at BJU, I needed to personally decide to follow it. I am not to follow a rule just because it is in the book, but because I am mature enough to handle following the regulations, and I am open to being out of my "comfort zone". I have seen many people get expelled, but find myself learning from their mistakes. I will not commit an "expulsion offense" not because the Dean's say I may not, but rather I will not do certain things because I am developing the personal restaint and self-control in my life to resist doing those certain things.
