Major: Interior Design (This Major's Salary over time)
If you are truly interested on serious education (interior design), this is not the place for you. There are part time teachers and full time. Full time teachers for the most part do not take it upon themselves to teach you. Books are more suggested than required so they would look good on the CIDA accreditation (main hook for school). I've bought many books expecting to make the most out of my classes and teachers have not opened them once. They say they'll teach "what you need to know". Others that do ask for the book do not teach and rather love to go on field trips utilizing 2 - 2 1/2 hours out of the 4 hours scheduled with no thorough teaching, mainly visiting places and dismissing after. Paying \(30+ per hour and getting dismissed? no teaching?? gotta be kidding me. They say to read the textbook - "they'll just cover other stuff". No question they might all be good designers themselves, but what good is it if no good information is downloaded unto us students paying big \)$$ for a joke. I've seen students totally asleep in a class of 6 and the teacher not minding at all. Some teachers are not taken seriously and people might show up up to 2 hours late to class, sometimes teacher has called them to find out if they are indeed coming to class!!!!! Some teachers show up up to 20 minutes late to class, unprepared, not giving out rubric for grading and expecting at final project to be perfect without guidelines and then taking points off. Some teachers just make us sit trhough class for about 1 - 2 hours with very little teaching and then dismissing. It's a ripoff to pay for 4 hours and to be dismissed at 2.

This has been escalated to top leadership who plays the role of Pilate and does nothing about it, even though expressing concern and open door policy to bring this issues up. Time again they are brought up and are told to learn to live with this, else

you'll find much trouble
in workplace, etc.

There are indeed some individuals that do not fit this profile, but those are the least, sadly, and the rest create an atmosphere of frustration and a sense of wasted money.

questionI hope you will be able to read these words. I am an international student and planning to join The Art Ins. of Houston. What do you advise me? For your information, my employer will be paying the tuition and all related to studying. I am working as a desktop publisher and designer. I care only about the certificate and the degree. Is it easy to gain the associate's degree in Graphic Design or not? Are they there supportive with grades or not. Appreciated
