I attended NMU for 2 years. Leaving was the biggest mistake I have ever made. Let's start off with classes. There is a wide variety of classes and while they are not Harvard courses, some are challenging and some are less so. It is truly a mixed bag. That being said, the faculty is generally outstanding and are always helpful. The campus is small but it is in some ways a good thing (especially in winter). Parking is better than at MOST universities. The dorms are nice and most have shared bathrooms with just one room. Maintenance is good everywhere.

There are many student activities and NMU gets good people to come like Dierks Bentley, Mythbusters, and Max Brooks just to name a few. NMU has numerous clubs and organizations.

Nightlife. What to say. Parties are everywhere but you will NOT be pressured into them. Downtown Marquette is a heck of a town and just awesome to party there. Bars and clubs are not quite like a Las Vegas scene but they suit the town and college well.

There are plenty of activities year round. Just because it is winter up there does not mean squat! I am a city boy but I fell in love with the outdoors up there.

Safety. It is a mid size college and crime is somewhat lower than at schools of comparable size. The town is very safe and many people in town dont even lock their doors. Most crime is very petty. MPD and NMUPD are very nice and professional…AND LENIENT to a point.

Given the chance, I would go back in time and stay at NMU for as long as possible.

Lastly,

Lots of attractive people walking around that campus!
