Hendrix college Is one of the most stifling environments for anyone with any business aspirations whatsoever. Only go to Hendrix if you want to study anthropology and do nothing with your degree.

I own several successful businesses now, and I love thinking back to the times when faculty and staff would talk shit and tell me how my ideas were effectively stupid, or how misguided I was.

Having those academics and professors locked up in a small town really gets to their heads after a while.I truly wish I had never gone to such a backwards school that spends more time protraying itself as forward thinking than it does actually doing anything progressive or meaningful for its students.

I came to Hendrix with the expectations of a getting a high quality degree that has a "name for itself." However, I have found differently. I am a senior accounting major and have applied for many jobs and graduate schools. No one has heard of Hendrix and no one really cares about Hendrix because it is not an "Accredited" school. Though some classes challenged me to the expected potential, others were severly slacking. My main point is that Hendrix calls themselves a "well-respected" school, but when it comes down to it they are not.Even as close as 2.5 hours away have not heard of Hedrix. Unless you plan on getting a job in Little Rock or Conway, you are going to have a hard time. That is my main issue with Hendrix. I chose Hendrix because it was a local school claiming to be comparable to the ivy leagues. If I had known that was completely false, I would have traveled further for my degree.

I'm currently a sophomore at Hendrix College. Hendrix can best be described as misleading. They promise students a positive, supportive environment provided by both faculty and students, but this could not be further from the truth. A large majority of the students on campus are extremely cutthroat and snooty. Most of them are well aware of their "superior intelligence" and seem to find joy in the struggles of their classmates. Many of the faculty members are the same way, concerned more with their research than the success of their students. If you are considering Hendrix for Pre-Medical studies, I DO NOT recommend it. The admissions counselors will brag about their 88% acceptance rate into medical school. This is unimpressive when you discover only 15 kids end up applying. There is also an alarming issue with the "party scene" on campus. Drinking is allowed for all ages and it always gets out of control. Dorms will throw parties on Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays and the apartments have parties every night. I expected partying to occur on campus, but not to this extreme. I've seen kids doing cocaine and heroine and there have been several reports of rape. But on parents weekend the Dean sends out an email basically telling kids to "sober up" before their parents arrive to maintain the school's good standing. And if you don't like to party every single weekend and get insanely drunk, then you're immediately considered the outcast of the school and your social groups will be very limited. I'm transferring at semester. I'm sure I can get the same quality of education at a large public school and be much happier with the staff and students.
