It's been 4 years now that I've finally been in a field. No, not computer networking... Water Distribution, enough said. The only thing my AA is good for is to show off my exceptional internet surfing skills I sharpen during my time at HTI. My CDL, WD-1, and WWC-1 certs through ADEQ are worth more than what I got from HTI. The only positive thing I can say about this school is, it made me a go-getter and now I'm trying to get my certs in water treatment 1 and 2 so can make safe drinking water for you all.

I completed all of the prereqs for the nursing program, could not get in then decided the st program at hti in sacramento would be great, when you sign up they tell you that it will be easy to get a job anywhere, but by the time you graduate they are offering you jobs out of state part time oncall, and telling youthat you need to be flexible. Well if they would have said that at the begginning i wouldnt have chosen that program, because I dont have the flexibility to move out of state, plus, the homework dittos they gave us had numerous spelling errors constantly, it was so cheaply done, and they would expect us to answer these three word questions without any reference material, such as 1. a globe? answer- the term used when refrencing the eye as a whole... how in the heck could I have guess that with absolutly no clues what so ever, now I am 23,000 in the whole a year later working at the gym 7 days a week, getting asked constanly, "are you in school" then I get depressed and have to go into the story about how i was in school, now i cant get a job like they promised,

I attended HTI in Sacramento in the spring of '05. I can honestly say the only 2 prerequisites for admissions are a pulse and the ability to pay. Judging by the caliber of my classmates, if I needed a surgical procedure done I would not want any of them within 100 miles of the OR. The didactic portion was a complete joke. Basically a manual with very little clinical insight. Our instructor was merely going through the motions. Labs were mainly run by the students who had been there at least 6 months and there was no method to their madness. Instructors geared their attention to those students who needed to have their "cases" signed off so they could graduate. Very little attention or critique was given by the instructors during lab hours other than doing mock "procedures." Even after doing a "case" the instructor had to move on to the next student because of being under a time crunch. I could only take it 2 1/2 months and quit. I saw the writing on the wall very quickly and later enrolled in a scrub tech program at a CAAHEP accredited junior college and earned an A.A.S. degree for about 1/3 of the cost. RUN, do not walk away from HTI. Based on my experience at HTI I would counsel whomever is considering enrolling at HTI for surgical technology to look at another school. To sit for the CST exam you must be enrolled in a CAAHEP accredited program. I'm sure the tuition has increased, but there has probably been no adjustment to their curriculum and methodology.

I attended anthem college-high tech institute from July 06 to Feb 08. The first few months weren't too bad even though they changed my student adviser like 3 times. After that I got a full time job that was extremely time consuming and my grades started to slip, once I quit my job, my grades went up. According to Matthew Ketcham, I guess he's the Student Services Adviser, I was on academic probation from Oct 07.

Well the last student adviser I had she informed me that I WOULD be placed on academic probation if I failed the current class I was taking. I emailed Mr. Ketcham back about they can terminate my education because I was fed up with the school. I never received any emails, phone calls, or letters saying I was on academic probation and all the student advisers I had, they never informed me. I'm sure it was in my student handbook, but I moved from California to Indiana and the last thing on my mind was making sure I had the handbook..I mean it's ridiculous!

I asked what would happen to the remaining money that I borrowed from Sallie Mae and if it was possible for them to send that money back to Sallie Mae or send it to me so I can send it to Sallie Mae myself. I also asked about sending the books I had that were in perfect condition, and guess what?! The guy NEVER emailed me back!!!! I was very upset after not hearing anything for a week so I called the financial aid services and the girl I spoke to told me that they weren't going to send the remaining money back to Sallie Mae or me, and when I asked what was going to happen to it she goes, "Oh, we're going to keep it." I was extremely upset and asked to speak to a manager, she transferred me to one and I left her a message saying I needed to speak to her about the remaining money on my loan. Guess what!? She never called me back! No surprise there.

So I left several messages to different Financial Aid managers with no responses. I even recently called them back after giving up for 4 months and I still have not got a return call. I've already contacted an attorney about this and I even talked to Sallie Mae, since I have fallen on a hardship and they informed me that no school is supposed to keep any remaining money if a student is no longer taking courses. So I have an appt tomorrow with a lawyer on what to do with this situation. I WOULD NOT recommend this school to anyone at all! They are all liars, frauds, and only want to take your money! The courses are ridiculous and they did not help with getting a degree in Medical Billing/Coding. I was signed up with at least 10 classes to take and only 3 of them had anything to do with Medical Billing/Coding. The rest were about psychology, sociology and creative writing which have nothing to do with my choice of degree.

If anyone has been ripped off by this company, I would love to get a statement from you so I can let my attorney know and maybe we can find some justice against this awful place they like to call a school.
