The University of Advancing Technology

The school is small, it's really small, but I think that's why I enjoy it so much. I get hands on learning and I get to know other students really well. I've participated in every kind of academic event or school event or activity and they're a lot of fun. I've been to 3 other colleges and I never really fit in at any of them because of the large atmosphere and the auditory learning, here I help when I need it and professors are flexible. I love the school, and you absolutely get back what you put in.

1st Year Female -- Class 2015

Education Quality: A+, University Resource Use/ spending: B+

This school has so many downsides. For one the two people running the school, the provost and president. The school does not lead with integrity and will do anything to deceive students into applying and paying to attend this school. As a previous employee of the school I have seen the dishonest practices. The staff and faculty are underpaid and overworked while the corporate staff are overpaid and underworked. I do not recommend attending this school. Enrollment is floundering and I'd be afraid of the school going under in the middle of another educational experience.

5th Year Female -- Class 2008

Campus Maintenance: A, Social Life: D-

Here's the good and bad
++There is a LOT of hands on work. You get to actually make things rather than talking about aloof ideas or worthless histories.

+There are some top-notch teachers here. I had an astronomy teacher who was a physicist at NASA; I had an illustration teacher who had a very successful career and connection to big names. Teachers in my programs are involved in independent films and experienced.

+They have great facilities. You never have to worry about the computer you are using being out of date or having old versions of software on it. They have a sound recording booth and a very good green screen studio.

+They have stuff for students pretty often. They are for meeting folks at the college or just doing something fun. Some of these are unexpected and really cool.

-While I got my basics to my field there, they did not prepare me for a job. It is just the nature of the beast; this is to educate you for a great many jobs, not a specific career. You should expect to spend just as much time out of class making network connections and finding out exactly what you need to know in order to get your ideal job.

-They don't have much in the way of industry connections. You should not expect an internship or job opportunity to come knocking. This is vital to success especially in the entertainment industry. If that is your goal (as was mine) look into LA or New York it might be pricy but this school just can't compete on that level.
