its strong commitment to a liberal arts curriculum, Albertus Magnus
College affirms its fidelity to the life of the human
mind and spirit. At Albertus we believe that training in
the liberal arts is excellent preparation for life. A liberal
arts background not only enriches one's daily existence, but also
offers a firm foundation for mastery, either in college or
afterwards, of vocational skills and the ability to utilize ever-changing
technology. Founded in 1925 by the Dominican Sisters of
St. Mary of the Springs, Albertus Magnus College educates men
and women to become leaders in all areas of their
lives. As much attention is paid to the nurturing of
a student's aesthetic, physical, and moral capacities as to his
or her intellectual capabilities. Albertus Magnus College confers the Bachelor
of Arts, Bachelor of Science, Bachelor of Fine Arts, and
Associate of Arts degrees. In 1992, the College began
offering its first graduate-level course of study through the Master
of Arts in Liberal Studies program. Most recently, the College
has expanded its capacities on the graduate level by offering
the Master of Science in Management program, the Master of
Arts in Art Therapy program and the Master of Science
in Business Administration degree program. Faculty members at Albertus come
from leading universities of the United States and abroad and
are one of the College's greatest assets. Ninety percent of
the 75 full- and part-time faculty members hold a Ph.D.
or the equivalent. Their primary concern is teaching, although the
work of many faculty members has been published. Students find
faculty members accessible for academic or personal counseling and for
campus sports and activities. The 500 undergraduate students who attend
Albertus come from various parts of the United States, Europe,
Africa, Asia, and South and Central America. The highest percentage
come from the regional New England states. About 70 percent
of the students live on campus in housing that has
been converted from large former estate homes. The housing program
fosters a strong sense of community spirit, and students often
plan parties and other social events in their residence halls.
The Campus Center is a hub of student activities such
as comedians, live music, contests, and other unique functions. Location/Contact ALBERTUS MAGNUS COLLEGE
