Wesleyan University

The professors are super-helpful and approachable. They are enthusiastic about what they are teaching and want students to truly understand and develop genuine interest in the topic. No classes (except introductory biology lab) are taught by Teaching Assistants (TA) at Wesleyan. The introductory science courses tend to be big, but as you move to upper-level courses, the class size drops to around 10~25. The greatest thing about learning at Wesleyan is that there is no core courses (general education requirements). Thus I am allowed to pursue my interests outside of my major requirement. So far, I've taken economics, drawing, and will be taking dance and writing next semester. There are many more classes I want to take!

Wesleyan University was incredible. The main thrust of the education there, regardless of major, was to teach each student to think independently and insightfully and then to express those thoughts with clarity. In my experience, they succeeded in that admirably. Though the substantive aspects of my studies there come in handy now and again, it was this overarching drive toward independent thinking that shapes and colors who I am as a professional. Would I recommend Wesleyan to others? Unequivocally yes. It is a fine institution that will prepare a person for anything, for whatever direction that life may take him or her.

Wesleyan is an ideal school for someone who is smart, open-minded, and seeking true knowledge and learning experiences. There is a niche here for everyone. I spent 4 of the greatest years of my life at this school, and I miss it every day now that I have graduated. Wesleyan is not perfect -- no school is perfect -- but it is a wonderful place to get involved, learn, make friends, have fun, and be prepared for a successful future. And the professors are absolutely first-rate and very accessible.
