I wrote the following review before I found an earlier review by someone else in my very same school and program, U of T's School of Public Policy (master's). I want to add that I agree COMPLETELY with everything she said, particularly about the directors of the program being womanizing tyrants - I'd add entitled and arrogant. And I too have been afraid to talk to anyone for fear of damaging my reputation. I know many other students who have spent much of their time here completely stressed over similar bullcrap.

In fact, a lot of department heads at U of T seem quite young and immature and this shows in the quality of programming and respect for students and process, the MPP program being a perfect example. It seems like the most challenging part is getting in. After that it's just plain hard - not challenging; you spend more time trying to play some odd game and figure out inconsistent or non-existent course syllabi (which should be treated as a contract between prof and students). If you have a problem, good luck getting anyone to take you seriously or to follow through on promises to help - you'll be treated as a "squeaky wheel" by most. I regret seriously my decision to do grad studies here. It was a complete waste of my money, particularly with their unbelievably exorbitant fees. No RA/TA-ship could come close to paying for it (and I don't think it has even occurred to most at U of T that it should - demographics???). Seriously, for this cash, go to an American school. Lastly, don't expect any serious options for international policy. They say they do it, but they don't. It's an OPS farm school that thinks it's ivy league level.

Public Policy

the students in this department is like a whole bunch of shit. they are bulliers and always look down the others. they do not cooporate but rather fights against each other. also, some males in this department discriminate females. some stupid phd students in this department hired others to perform data cleaning and analyses for them. I found this department is full of fraud. if you have any chance, please stay away from there to get shitty.

Many teachers taught that it's better not to get a degree in what they were teaching. They are right, this degree is not worth it.

Language - French/Spanish/etc.

It's too big - the teaching ability of most professors are poor - they don't seem to be trained in teaching/communication. In graduate school, there are good and bad labs...some are truly about research and some unfortunately are abound with politics.
