Being totally objective, I would not have gone to Georgia Tech knowing now what I didn't know then. It's no fun. Sure, you can make it fun, but compared to others going ANYWHERE else, it sucks. Of course I made lifelong friends, and yes, I met my wife there, and she's not ugly. But that's the exception, not the rule. Compared to any other schools, well, it just doesn't compare. The shaft is for real. Avoid Georgia Tech. It just wasn't worth it. I'm in graduate school now (not at Tech) and am learning a lot more...Unless you're a management major, you'll hate it. That's not a stereotype, I've found it to be fact. And if you want to do management, go have fun in college at UGA or anywhere else for that matter.

To keep things short and sweet, should you choose Georgia Tech as the next step after finishing high school, expect two things. The first is that upon completion of your degree, you will be in line to make a handsome starting salary at a respectable company. You will receive a level of education that is superior to that of many institutions. However, the second expectation that you should have is that Georgia Tech's reputation alone will not carry you. You will have to work twice as hard as your peers who attended other institutions and you must make comparable grades. You will likely have less fun, perhaps much less. This institution is not out to get you, as many of its students complain, but it does not make any apologies for the quality and level of work required to meet its standards. If you are choosing a college expecting to have a fun, lighthearted experience LOOK ELSEWHERE, trust me. However if you are looking to put yourself through the meatgrinder to become a hard worker, test your limits and build some character, this is your school.

Georgia Tech has a diverse setting which promotes success in the real world. It's tough coursework prepares students to any challeges that come their way. If applying to this school, it is good to have a decent GPA and grade-point average.(Do not take this to strictly because a a former high school advisor told me that I would never make it in, and that I should apply to a small, uncompetitive school.) Personally, if you have a high GPA and a lower SAT, such as I did, I would definitely apply. If coming to this school, come with high expectations and hopes, and ignore others' attitudes about the school around you. It is possible to not be a genius here, have a tough engineering major (both CH E and BME), and have above a 3.75 GPA. Lastly, try to be an open-minded well rounded individual. To succeed in this school, it helps if you have leadership skills and knowledge in many areas. In closing, many students who come to Tech are usually among the best in their high schools and they expect it to be the same here. If you worked hard throughout high school and fought for each inch, you will probably do very well here.
