| Quite Bright | Eastern Kentucky University is by far the best value and public university in Kentucky. The campus is beautiful and the students are friendly. The professors are all experts in their perspective fields and really do care about the students learning. I would do it all over again in a heartbeat. ADVICE: GET INVOLVED ON CAMPUS SOMEHOW! The things people have been saying are somewhat true about the lack of things to do on weekends. The University is definetly trying to fix this through the Student Governement, but I would suggest GETTING INVOLVED by joining on of the many clubs or by going greek. If greek isn't your thing, no big, there is definitely something at EKU for you! You will love it!! | Education Quality: A+, Campus Maintenance: B- | | | |

| Not so bright | I attended EKU from 2001 to 2005 and graduate May of that year. I came from Ohio, so I was an out of state student desperately seeking to get away from my hometown and learn something new about somewhere I knew little to none about. To begin with and didn't know one person my first day and was quite nervous. I ended up making a small group of friends who were a lot like me, sick of high school, new place, like to chill and have a good time, but also get A's and B's in school. I found the overall workload very tolerable and challanging. The campus itself is gorgeous, and is very safe. Unfortunately, a large crowd of students that EKU draws from rural counties often go home on the weekends, often for no apparent reason. I was very anti-frat so I didn't want to pay money just to find out about parties. I got myself a good fake ID in Washington D.C. and found my way into the Richmond bars. I managed to find a good time, as well as balance everything out with my school work to finish with 3.4 gpa, and get myself into graduate school elsewhere. My biggest complaints about EKU overall were the kids who went home every weekend for no reason, the lack of entertainment in Richmond (literally, it's like winding your watch back 20 years), and the fun-hating Richmond Police Dept. I had some of the sickest halloween parties every year I was there at my house and every year, sure enough, by 10pm, I had half the city cops, a few campus cops, a few state cops (their office is also located on campus), and usually the paramedics outside my house looking to slap me with a fine. Oh well, all's well that ends well, right? | University Resource Use: A, Surrounding City: C- | | | |

| Quite Bright | I was a 3rd year transfer student this year and honestly, coming from a small private school, the change was so good. I've met amazing people within the first week of classes. I also went to rush, which was an amazing way to meet people. Rush was not something I was expecting to do, as I've never considered myself the "Frat boy type" but it showed me that no matter what, you can always fit into a fraternity because each chapter is so different. You just have to get involved. The students may not approach you, but if you approach them, I haven't met an unfriendly person yet. | Education Quality: A, Innovation: C | | | |

The Medical Technology program at EKU was wonderful. I enjoyed my experience at the college. I lived only an hour away from the school, so I went home on the weekends and then commuted my last two years. Because of this the activities outside of EKU held no interest for me. I was at EKU for an education, not social life. I was part of the music program also and loved it. I loved the campus where you can park your car and walk wherever you needed too. I felt safe on campus and not overwhelmed like a larger university. I would definitely return to EKU for graduate studies if I decide to at some point. I was well prepared for my work field when I left the university. | Starting Job: Medical Technologist, Preparedness: A+, Reputation: B | | |
