The University of St Thomas

Although the school is Catholic, it is somewhat open to other ideas and beliefs. The Catholic religion is never pushed on you nor really proselytized (except by students), but there is a Catholic air to things that sometimes hinders the educational experience. The administration is usually very open and cooperative with students, but at times they can be stuffy and nonsensical. There is something about the school that made me really love it. The architecture and Mankato limestone make this one of the most beautiful campuses I have ever seen. It is a cozy campus where you can see many people you know on the sidewalks but still not know most of them. The quad culture is great, and in the late spring and early fall they are full of students studying or throwing a frisbee. In addition, there are really many ways to get involved, from many student clubs and orgs to a pretty strong student government. There is much work available on campus if you want it, and the residence halls are generally great places to live. On weekends many people go home, but in the past few years there has been a good effort to make programs available and keep people on campus. There are a lot of good events that happen, although nothing too scandalous or crazy.
