This is a great school for obtaining a degree; however, if you want to go to a college and get the college experience out of it I wouldn't recommend st. Thomas. the social life is essentially like a high school with different clicks. Many of the girls are jersey chasers. The campus has a public safety police force on campus that creates many problems for the students. Over the last few years partying has become non existent due to the school pouring money at the St. Paul police in an effort to control the area around campus. The off campus housing is in an area where many families live so if you have a party expect the police to arrive with a noise complaint. Because the students can't hang out with their friends at house party's they are forced to go to the bars, usually Tiff's, this bar is the most disgusting place I have ever seen. They allow underages in with very poor fake id's. but the scene at the bar is just a bunch of immature sloppy drunk underagers

This school is a good school to get your education. As for the social life, it is not so great. Many of the students if not most are from the surrounding area. They already have their friends from high school and are not open to new friends. The campus is a suitcase campus as many kids go home to their parents more than three times a month. Public safety is harsh and creates a binge drinking problem. Compared to other schools the social life here is trash unless you went to high school in Minnesota and know others from there.

From a science standpoint, St. Thomas is a great school. There are many opportunities for undergraduate research that I feel are much more difficult to come by at larger research universities that are grad student based. The Biology department is also very well staffed and has some outstanding professors that care about your progress. As far as campus life goes, it is not as bad as many people say. It is located in St. Paul and there are a lot of small restaurants and bars within a few miles (might be a stretch to walk), and not everyone leaves on weekends. The people are generally very nice, and making friends was never an issue, but it can be annoying dealing with some of the trust fund kids. Overall, I had a very positive experience and I highly recommend St. Thomas.
