The University of Tulsa

Pros: Aesthetically, the campus is nice.
Cons: Just about everything else. My experience at TU was poor. Construction on the dorm I was living in was supposed to be completed by the time school started, however half way into the semester it still wasn't done and as a result my room was a dust bowl (that includes the purchase of an air filter, a vacuum, and swifter dusting materials- it was still that bad). Cafeteria food was unsafe at times even though I was told money was put into the car recently. No school spirit. I could take a test on the football field on game day and have no problem concentrating. Generally speaking, professors were not very approachable. I even had a professor that went out of his way to single me out during class. The Math department will take off points on homework if you use a method they don't like and you have the right answer, even if that method was shown in class or in the textbook. Happened to me 3 times. If I were to really get into all of my issues with housing this review would be a full blown novel, so I'm not going to elaborate too much. Shortest way to put it- they are very inattentive to student needs. Most of my professors were mediocre overall. There is never anything to do on weekends. Never. Seriously. An "exciting" thing to do there was to sit in the lobby of my dorm on Thursday nights for an hour and eat PB&J. They called the "event" Jam it Up. Not kidding. That's "fun" there. Unfortunately this is just a summary of my experience and leaves things out, but to put in perspective I will put it this way. I had multiple offers out of high school that were amazing, but TU was so bad that I was excited to leave and go home... to my local community college. They don't care about students, money is all that talks there.The only reason I could even see considering this school is if you want to be a PE major and you care about nothing else college experience wise. The admissions team will tell you just about anything to get you to go there. Beware. No brand recognition outside the state of Oklahoma. Except for the PE program.
