Juniata College

What you get out of college is related to what you put into it. Juniata College gave ample opportunity for every area of growth and development in the sciences (basic academics, teaching assistant positions while still at the undergraduate level, research (individual or alongside professors), summer outsie research or in-field academic exposure. It has been a long time since I attended here and things can always schange but there was a strong academic opportuntiy while I attended.

Alumnus Male -- Class 2000

It has been quite a while since I attended. I was relatively absorbed with school work but found a large group of students with similar interests outside of academics. Although there were nt a lot of planned extracurricular activites I always had plenty of friends to just hang out with or go to the gym on a Friday or Saturday night to have pickup basketball or volleyball games. The opportunity for professional preparedness was more than ample. I high percentage of students who were pre- medical, vet, dental or podiatry were accepted to careers of their choice and there were no high thresholds that needed ot be achieved inorder to be recommended to the medical schools if a student was reasonably responsible. Some colleges claim high medical scholl acceptance quotas but their pre-professional committees only recommend students with GPAs over 3.5 or 3.7. Students who look at schools for this purpose should ask their pre-professional committee representatives what their requirement is for recommendation.

Though a small department and program, Juniata offers a top notch education in Politics. The individualized programs of emphasis (POEs) don't strap students into a major and allow for greater flexibility. Want to study environmental politics, political communication, political economy, constitutional law, philosophical politics, etc.., you can create your own POE and combine courses from other equally strong departments to get the most out of your education. The professors in Politics, and in other departments, are friendly, accessible and often engage with students in and out of the classroom. There is obviously something in the water because students that come here find it hard to leave because there is a certain something about the Juniata community that builds students for a better tomorrow. Think, Evolve, Act here in the Juniata College Politics Department. Two thumbs up!
