The campus is beautiful, especially when the Cherry trees blossom. However, the town of Annville hates our guts. They always complain about us. But it's a small, quiet place in the middle of nowhere, basically. We have a movie theatre, a coffeehouse, a Turckey Hill, and a Wal-Mart down the road. That's basically it. But the drama club is excellent, it's easy to get into the radio station, the newspaper, and many other activities. It's also rather easy to get into the greek organizations. Our biggest majors are Music, Health Science, and Elementry Ed. We're a very close-knit community, and everyone knows at least 80% of other students and most of the profs. The profs know your name, and my biggest class freshamn year was 30 people. I love it. I wouldn't go to UD (in my homestate) for the world after a year here. I'm also being given the chance to study abroad in Spain junior year, and they encourage everybody to study abroad. PS they're great with scholarships.

Don't get me wrong - LVC is a beautiful place. No one can deny that. But the old saying goes, don't judge a book by its cover, and LVC exemplifies that.
I came here for chemistry. They recruited me for it, and I liked it well enough, but it was all broken promises. They said Garber (the science building) would be renovated by my sophomore year. Guess what? Construction isn't expected to begin until I'm a year out of school. Right now, the place is leaking and stinks. So I changed my major.
The students here are all nice, mostly good country folk (which is a change for me being a New Jersey native) but INCREDIBLY apathetic. No one gets involved unless it's in a sport. It's a very athletic campus, but the amount of apathy about politics, current events, etc. is appalling for a college campus. No one sticks around on the weekend, everyone goes home or to other colleges to party.
Some of the traditional halls are hell. If you're a guy and you live in Funkhouser, good luck. I lived there for two years and hated every second of it. Hammond/Keister/Mary Green are all about 40 years old and they show. Silver is nice if you're a female. The upperclass suites (Dellinger/Marquette/Derickson/Main St.) are very nice and modern and are worth every penny extra.
Annville sucks. Townies will hate you because of what off-campus residents do. LVC isn't terrible, but you can do better.

I'm actually going to comment on my own previous comment. I finally got out of Funkhouser (after A LOT of hassle and meetings with the RA and RD) and I moved into Silver. The difference was so amazing! The showers have WALLS separating them, and there's even a tub! Since it's an all-girls dorm, it doesn't smell bad, the furniture and carpeting in the lounge is all intact, and there aren't any drunk frat guys on the floor below you playing guitar and singing at 2:00 in the morning. I got to be on a floor with mostly upperclassmen, so they weren't going through the "Oh my god I have no parental supervision so I'm going to party and drink all the time!" phase, and I made some awesome friends. As a bonus, Silver isn't situated directly by the train tracks, so I actually got to sleep at night!
The campus really is beautiful (although some of the trees smell rather awful when they flower). Everything is very well-lighted at night, with security call boxes scattered around. The 15 minute walk out to the freshmen parking lot can still be a little scary at night, though. The surrounding town might seem boring if you're used to lots of excitement and nightlife, but hey, it's got a Turkey Hill within walking distance...what more could you need?! There's a Wal-Mart, a mall, and other stores and restaurants just short drives away, so it's not like it's totally isolated, but it is a nice quiet little town.
The professors are generally friendly and willing to help. Unfortunately, I had a hard time understanding my advisor who spoke English well enough, but had a VERY thick Spanish accent.Overall it's a nice college if you're looking for a small school in a small town. Of course, if you end up in a dorm that you hate with people that you don't get along with very well it can really screw up your perception of the college as a whole.
