The actual academic value of the school is par. The school has a wonderful and highly knowledgeable teaching staff. However, the on-campus living is horrible. The residence halls, both male and female, are infested with mold, insects, and multiple maintenance issues. There is no parking on campus for commuters. The food in the dinning hall is unacceptable and has put numerous students in the hospital with food poisoning. The last health inspection rated the dinning hall a 73. The surrounding town has a tacobell and a sonic as far as "restaurants" go. If you want shopping there is a walmart. The nearest mall is 45 minutes away. There is absolutely no entertainment within 30 minutes of the college and almost no student life on campus. The school is attempting to renovate itself but at great expense to the students. Above all this school tends to not care for its students and this seems to be the general consensus of the student body.

“Wow!Business - Management and Administration
Wow! Where do I begin? Carson-Newman was one of the greatest experiences of my life. I learned valuable information that has led me to what ever job I have pursued, and the advice and wisdom shared by my professors have truly impacted my life. C-N's academic reputation is known nationally, and it really helped me get the job in the field I wanted. I met so many fellow students, who are now alumni, that I have kept in touch with and plan to do so for years to come. My advice to any student is to go to the college/univeristy where you can not only learn but also can have fun, meet people, get to know your professors, and enjoy the most important 4 years of your life! C-N was that place for me, and I encourage anyone who asks to look at Carson-Newman. Maybe it could be the place for you . . .
