Positive Negative Neutral Advice
Walla Walla College [University] has a name thatEducation
Walla Walla College [University] has a name that has been respected wherever I went. The education I got here was amazing; it prepared me to go into a high-name graduate school in California and easily hold my own with my classmates. It also prepared me to be successful professionally in my various jobs in the field of Education. I would not trade out my WWC/U education for any other school's program.

I would recommend WWU to any student for several reasons:

a) High academics
b) Consistent rigor and quality almost across the board in the programs
c) Strong positive Christian campus culture
d) Strong service orientation
e) Friendliness of the students
f) Good name reputation. To prepare for college, I recommend that students learn to study, and take all the math and writing classes they can get in their high school. Learning time management and how to set boundaries on your play time is also crucial to success. And finally, don't trade in your honesty and integrity. They will take you far, even for those who are not that strong in academics.

Question
Highschool and college students should do job shaddowingBiology
Highschool and college students should do job shaddowing or an internship for an extended period of time as part of a degree. Students should also speak to people in their field about available opportunities, pay scales as well as the difficulty of finding possitions. Colleges/Advisers should speak to students about hot fields or fields that are lacking employees even if that means they might loose a student from their department.

Colleges should offer less generalized degrees which do not help students get jobs and offer more specialize degrees that employers are looking to fill.Liberal arts majors are almost doomed to getting a minimum wage low paying job even with their degree. Biology majors learn a great deal when they get their degree, but there are so many students graduating with the degree that a master's is required. Often the degree is over looked as broad and companies don't respect it because many students do not graduate with Laboratory experience because their college didn't offer it. This is not always the case and when a Biology major graduates it's important to make sure possible employers know of your lab experience if you have it.

Question
The quality of my education was incredible.Civil Engineering
The quality of my education was incredible. ALL of our professors had been or still were PRACTICING PROFESSIONAL Engineers. They had the PHD's and knew the theory. In addition, they had real professional experience and knew the real world also. While in college, I could see the value of the small student to teacher ratio. It wasn't until after working and talking with professional colleagues the full extent of that advantage. Big schools like to publicize factoids and impressive achievements but the real question is "do undergraduates get to participate?" At WWC, I was able to use and learn from the best that the school was able to offer. In comparison, colleagues at big state schools never even got close to those well publicized research facilities. They ended up using resources much below those offered to us.
