Get out of the dorms and on the metro; see the city.  If diversity is a big concern, be aware that the school is mostly white and Catholic (there aren't that many hardcore conservative Catholic types, but those that are are very vocal), but on a whole students are friendly, tolerant, and down to earth.  I don't know about other departments, but mine is very helpful and flexible.  One of the prettiest and greenest campuses on the city with a metro stop on campus (The metro is arguably the best public transportation system in the country, you will learn to love it).  Visit the campus and talk to the students and faculty, here or anywhere you are seriously considering.
