I attended WES as a PhD. student. The breadth of offerings is perhaps more limited than that found at larger "research schools." However, what is offered is done so with very high quality. Further, the focus on independent and creative thinking is clearly reflected throughout the graduate community. I am now a professor at a major U.S. research university and look back on my years at WES to realize what a terrific job it did preparing me. I hope I give my own grad students a little of that flavor.
