Williams College is an absolutely amazing institution. Frankly, we are in the middle of nowhere, but the cohesiveness of the faculty and students in outstanding. It has provided me with more opportunities than I could have ever imagined. Not only does the college have the bling-bling, but, more importantly, the students see it. Granted I've only been at Williams for one year, but I have not experienced or heard of any inaccessible profs. Virtually all profs live minutes away from campus, and it isn't rare to be invited to dinner, invited to join in research, or even invited to a social event by your profs. Morty, our president, also an econ prof, reflects the general Williams faculty down-to-earthness and concern for each individual, personally inviting students to dinner at his house on a regular basis. Williams academics are outstanding, but grade comparison among students is a taboo. Sports, while a large part of many students life, are also very optional. We've got the concerts, the movies, the reggae, the hip-hop, the contra, the techno, the comedians, renowned speakers, art galleries/museums galore, the Appalachian trail running through the Berkshires, the bars (if u really get that bored), the Eph spirit, the snow (damn, we've got the snow), and way too many clubs. Honestly, I wouldn't rather be anywhere else in the world..well if this campus was to be moved to southern Cali, I would definitely help pack. But, I realize some people enjoy the four seasons.
