Overall it's been an ok experience. I would seriously consider the University of Michigan as an alternative for an instate student, although this depends on the program you are pursuing. James Madison College has an excellent reputation and program, as does Lyman Briggs (to a lesser extent). These colleges are particularly good for students who want more of a challenge than some of the programs offered elsewhere in the university. Same can be said for the honors college. Lots of opportunity for research and independent study, if you approach your professors.
