The worst thing about Rutgers is the Ivy-reject in-state students. These are the kind of kids that ask "Why did you come to RUTGERS? This is the last place I wanted to go." If you get past that (and the RU Screw, of course) then Rutgers is a great school. Despite the built-in defeatism there's still some inter-college elitism bullshit to deal with and laugh at, and that's an unfortunate discredit to the school. There's a lot of history and tradition at Rutgers, being one of the original colonial schools (Rutgers celebrates its 250th anniversary in 2016). All-in-all Rutgers University is a great school, but you have to pull yourself above the bullshit and decide that you like it for yourself, because there are plenty of other people to drag it right back down for you.
