I went to SMSU in the eighties…in hindsight it was a great school in that I was a bright kid but had a very average education from the public school system in St. Louis. This was the school I could get into (private or Ivy League wasn't even a consideration) and from which I could actually learn and graduate. All in all the education was very average but I got a degree! From there I could take the next step and now I work alongside journalists who went to Ivy League schools. My major, electronic media (broadcast journalism) was newer then and is probably better developed today. I do remember that the administration at SMSU was terrific with helping myself and others with financial aid. They really wanted you to succeed. The social life was amazing. I've lived on the east coast for years now and the students up here don't have half the fun that students at state midwestern schools have!
