Date: Jul 12 2004 Major: Unknown (This Major's Salary over time) Like any of the top colleges in the country, a Vassar education is what the individual makes of it. That said, having a high-caliber faculty, exceptional resources, a beautiful campus and most importantly, a student body bright enough to teach a person almost as much as the profs do, certainly help quite a lot. Academically, Vassar has few equals and is considered by many to be just inside the Ivy range for quality and selectivity. Socially, the students are open-minded (admittedly, sometimes to a liberal fault), kind-hearted and very considerate. In fact, these qualities are so unexpected in the 'real world'—especially among men—that I've noticed they pose an unintentional but distinct advantage for graduates. My only negative comment about the college falls in the '90210 domain', which is alive-and-well at VC. At worst, though, it's merely irritating. Many of us looked at it as a natural extension of an out-going and social student body. The only real shame is that intelligent people have a lot going on underneath that can get masked by this. Otherwise, my experience at VC was expectional.
