WVU just seems like the PERFECT school to me. Not sure why it got a party school rating by princeton review…i really don't think its that much of a party school. Yeah, some people drink a lot, but I also know a lot of people that never drink. For most people, studying comes first. campus is very safe, crime is not a problem and no one is afraid. this area of west virginia is one of the most beutiful in the country. there is so much to do around here within only a few miles, be it whitewater rafting, skiing, hiking, mountain biking, horse riding, fishing, etc. Mountaineer sports are always exciting, and students get in free. Pittsburgh is only a short drive away, and washington D.C. isn't that far either, and the interstates go right to town. academic wise i would say the school is pretty good, the professors are all nice, as are the admissions and administrative people. all of the buildings on campus are in top-shape, with many new very modern buildings, as well as some historical buildings. the student body comes from all over the country (most from east coast), although there is not really that much racial diversity (although i wouldn't say there is really any segregation either). only bad parts are traffic in downtown gets very congested at certain times of the day, and there isn't enough parking. the PRT system is pretty cool and is very convinient. A free bus system also goes everywhere that the PRT doesn't. Just be careful if you go here, many students graduate and never move away (did i mention one of the lowest unemployment rates in this part of the country?)!
