I am from the east, from a very diverse area, so coming to Utah and BYU especially was a huge culture shock. I really was not prepared for who different it was going to be, so it caught me off guard my first year. For the most part, I like BYU. However, it's not for everyone, even the most mormon of mormons. I think some of the students are a little prudish and self-righteous sometimes. It can be annoying, but there are also a lot of great people. I got a little frustrated with the large classes and not feeling like I matter as an individual. I started going to the Salt Lake Center this year and it is great, because it is a BYU education, except the classes are smaller, there seems to be more diversity, and classes are held once a week in the evenings, instead of 3 times a week. It helps with work and social life. If BYU Provo isn't for you, the SL Center may make a difference.
