As far as undergraduate colleges go, you get out what you put in. The advantage of B-W is that it has the distinction of being one of the top private educations in Northern Ohio; perhaps only second to Case Western. Having that distinction is the reason many professionals who are tops in their fields come here to teach. You will not find adjuncts here.

An often overlooked component of this school is that it has a Methodist affiliation. In and of itself it means very little; unless you take into consideration that Duke University, which has some of the best graduate programs in the country, is also Methodist affiliated. An affiliated undergrad degree will look very good if a student has an interest in attending Duke, or any other Methodist affiliated graduate school for that matter.

As far as the college experience goes; it means different things to different people. Obviously, someone attending an Ivy League school is going to have an opposing outlook compared to someone attending one of the top 5 party schools in the nation. If your emphasis is on getting a professional oriented private education that will look favorable on graduate school applications this is a great place for you. However, if you rather go to a public university where academics and party life are considered one and the same I suggest you go elsewhere. Although many people can have a good time at the neighboring cities, there is frankly not much to do on campus.

My only complaints are the slightly run down campus and high costs. I understand that the school is 160 years old but it doesn't necessarily have to look like it. This place is due for a renovation.

My final complaint on the costs is two fold. Even though this is a great private education I feel it is still slightly overpriced. If you plan at stopping with your undergraduate degree you can be just as marketable in the workforce at most any public university; so save your money and attend there. However, if you plan to go to a good graduate school, I suggest completing your general courses at any of the local community colleges before you come here, just to save yourself some cash. Just make sure the courses transfer.
