NEC was an extremely negative experience. In fact I have convinced several college-bound students to study elsewhere. The voice department consisted of people who had no interest in, or understanding of vocal pedagogy. After four years of inferior teaching, I had no vocal range and had developed several problems. It took study with a truly competent teacher to undo the bad teaching and begin singing again. Now I sing professionally and have no positive memories of NEC. When you are young it is fairly easy to snow you with claims of prestige. If you are a classical singer be very wary.
