Like most of its peer elite universities, Georgetown University has brilliant students, interesting faculty and a beautiful campus. However, Georgetown has many things other schools cannot offer. Its location in DC is awe-inspiring. Sure, other schools are situated in major cities, but no other school nests itself so close to the action yet is removed from the harsher, less-attractive attributes of a major city. Georgetown is by far the nicest part of the city. Washington, DC is an incredible place to get experience working and/or interning at various national groups, news HQs, government offices or private sector companies. I found the students at other top-notch universities to be bright, but the students at GU were bright AND charismatic. I'm not Catholic and quite progressive and I really enjoyed the Jesuit professors I had. Since I did not grow up in that faith tradition, I was not aware that they were such a great group of individuals. They really do care about the students on campus and the University in general. I also enjoyed that the school offers chaplains from other faith traditions so that all students are made comfortable. I also enjoyed the fact that Georgetown's faculty were also so connected to the public and private sector. It made getting into grad school and getting a job much easier to have letters of recommendation from such a stellar group of academics/politicians/executives. Hope this review helps and good luck to any and all applying!
