My son is a junior in high school and we are embarking on a college search. We got a postcard from Vassar and liked what we read. I see plenty of positive and negative comments on Vassar on this site and not sure what to make of it. My son is a bit introverted, makes friends in smaller groups and is not a party animal. As parents, we also want to shelter him from precocious teens so he does not get side-tracked from academics. Would you recommend this college for him ? |
Major: Biology (This Major's Salary over time)
Attending Vassar was one of the best decisions I've ever made. It's true that it's not for everyone, but then there's no excuse for not reading up on each college or university to which one plans to apply. Everyone I knew that transferred out was either 1)trying to get into a big or little Ivy after bolstering their grades at Vassar or 2)had no idea what they were doing. My education was well rounded and yet still prepared me for pursuing a career and PHD in the biomedical sciences. I'm ten years out now and everyone I know has a terminal graduate degree or has reached the upper echelons of their field. I can't imagine having gone anywhere else.
