One thing you have to respect about SUNY Albany is that the school just doesn't give a damn about you and makes absolutely no bones about it. Its big, impersonal, and overly-bureaucratic. Don't even think about meeting people as the majority of the student body is stuck-up in the extreme and interested only in getting dangerously intoxicated just about every night of the week. When I first transferred here I was given a room with a group of kids who were smoking crack when I got there. After a lot of hemming and hawing the Dept. of Residential Life decided that they'd send me downtown to Alumni Quad which is about 3 miles from the main campus, meaning that in order to get back and forth I had to take a city bus. Not that I have anything against taking the bus, its just that usually the busses are packed with barely any room to stand, and on the weekends you have to wait several hours just to be able to fit on a bus. But that's everything at SUNY Albany, a long, frustrating wait. The school is definetly overcrowded and everywhere you go there's a seemingly endless line. As for the student body, there's very little diversity in terms of interests. Most people are from Long Island/Westchester County/Rockland County and are obnoxious in the extreme, or they're snobby emo kids from LI's North Shore. I hate to say it, but this is one of the largest concentrations of disgusting, deplorable individuals that I have ever come across. I've long since given up searching for some kind of redeeming social value. If your thinking about attending SUNY Albany and are not an aspiring sex-obsessed alcoholic/crack addict from the NY metropolitan area, DO NOT COME HERE. You'll hate it and regret it every miserable day you're here.
