New York Institute is a good school in terms of academics. The classes are straightforward. If you know the subject and study, you'll pass the exams and quizzes. However, social life is terrible. There isn't much to do. If you don't have a car, you'll be bored. There aren't many clubs and the basketball gym isn't that nice. If you are strictly for education, then you'll like it but the chance of you continually being bored is high. I thought of myself as a boring person before moving in, but now i know its real meaning. It makes me think that stony brook would have been better, since theres more things to do and its cheaper. I probably won't be dorming here next year. The dorm and the campus with the classes are not together. You have to take a shuttle bus in order to get from one to another if you don't drive or dont want to waste gas money. It gets kind of annoying. Also there are no restaurants on campus- no burger king, mcdonalds, or anything, just the school cafe, which closes weekends. Overall, this school will get you your degree, which should be your main priority, but fun is not around here.
