Clayton State, is a South Metropolitian Atlanta college, with a population of about 6200 students. The campus is beautiful, wooded, and peaceful.

CSU is a commuter college; private apartments and "dorms" are adjacent to the campus, but it's not all student residents, making for potential conflicts between neighbors.

The Professors are Terrific and care about students.

I have nothing but tremendous respect for all of the Faculty. Truly good people. It is only because of The Faculty and Tutoring Staff,that Clayton State enjoys a good reputation for education.

The adminstration and most non-academic staff are horrible, with a few rare exceptions.

Clayton State is exceptionally, overboard concerned, about fronting an image to potential students, when, adminstration could be doing better things. The image being fronted, is aimed at inmature potential students: i.e.,

I'd rather Clayton attract a better cut of student and not dull, television watching, stay-at-home's. The maturity of young students is dismal, although I've met some who show exceptional promise.

Great conversation can be found among international and older students and faculty. The Soccer Teams are great and other sports are very good; Intermurals are severely lacking. The Student Life Activities Council, is improving nicely.

Admission standards are not terribly strict: SAT, two institutional tests and you're placed in classes, make sure you're n the right class for your goals and abilities.

Learning support is being phased out, transferred to Continuing Ed. ($). Campus and local politics, works against students.

In summary, I like Clayton State because of the Professors, Instructors, Tutors, International and Mature Adult Students. Adminstration is aloof from students and if oyu ask hard questions, you will get a disingenous response or none at all.

Any non-working student should be able to pass their courses with A's and few B's. Focused Adult students, ditto.
