Major: Biology (This Major's Salary over time)
Searching for a school that fits with who you are as a person can be quiet difficult. I chose to come to TLU because I was interested in the natural sciences and heard great things about the biology and chemistry departments. My cousin attended TLU, had a great time, spoke well of the science department, and is now in medical school. My first year here was a bit difficult because I was far from home and did not know a soul. It took a while for me to assimilate, though once I found my niche, I have had an amazing time (thus far).My professors are very supportive and I am certain that they will do all they can to help me get into a great graduate program. I am constantly receiving e-mails from my professors about opportunities, internships, and possible job options. They definitely have my best interst in mind. The professors also have some major connections in regards to contacts, so that has been very helpful. In comparision to other schools in the state, I have heard that TLU is relatively far up there on academic standards. I can account for this in the science department. I compared my course load to some of my friends who were science majors at other schools, and it would be safe to say that my science background is now much stronger than the education that they are receiving. There are pro's and con's to each school. The architecture here is a mix of things and not all the buildings are remarkably appealing to the eye, but I would not avoid going here based on the fact that it is not the most attractive campus in the state. There is a great amount of diversity here. There is just as much to learn outside of the classroom as there is inside, and I would say that TLU has fostered the opportunity to grow academically and as an individual. I do not regret coming here, and I have met some very amazing individuals.
