Generally, the course-load at Stevens is very difficult and requires solid time-management skills. I don't remember a semester with less than 18-21 credits. The Cooperative Education Program was the single greatest contributor to my positive experience at Stevens. Through Co-Op, I gained outstanding real-world experience that could not have been gained through classes alone. Upon graduation, there were many companies that came to campus to interview graduating students. The job placement after graduation was phenomenal and I had several offers to choose from before I even graduated. I think that speaks volumes about the school’s reputation. Some instructors were very committed to the students. However, there were quite a few professors that were difficult to understand and seemed less concerned about the quality of education. Also, when I attended Stevens, you were either Engineering or Computer Science. At times I felt pigeon-holed into a very narrow spectrum of choices. Now, I believe Stevens has greatly expanded its Business program but I’m not sure how developed and respected it has become. At times, I also felt that Stevens lacked the true “college experience” because athletics and social activities were limited and unpopular (maybe due to the excessive course-load) but I made the most of it and enjoyed the experience overall. Hoboken is an excellent town too and NYC is within walking distance and a short train ride away.
