HU IS THE MECCA. If you can't dress, if you can't rock the newest shoes, bags, and etc…, if you can't take being teased, if you have a problem with ghetto people, then don't come here because you are not strong. It is all character building in my opinion. HU has its own culture different from the city and people do their own thing. Yes people joan and look down on you, but it is up to you to find new friends even if that means making connections off campus if you have to. There are also a lot of students that look like bums on campus; however, they seem to find others that look like bums and be friends with them.

Hey, I'm a junior thinking about applying to Howard but a lot of the comments about the students there have me somewhat nervous. I live in Brooklyn, NY and I'm pretty used to the fashion show atmosphere of many black high schools, but I had thought college students would be a little more mature and concerned with school work. Sorry, its takin so long for me to get to the point, but can you tell me a little more about the atmosphere there? Aside from the fashion scene, were the students generally friendly and accepting OR did everyone seem to have their own clique like in hs? Did you feel welcome as a freshman or was it difficult to make friends? Also could you tell me more about the dorms( I've heard they're really bad) and the food. Thanks for your time..

THis is my second year at Howard. The dorms are terrible and it is a fashion show. I havenet really enjoyed myself here…its a lot to get use to. I can dress. but that noe the point of college. Overall, howard is what you make it but take into consideration that you are going to pay for it. And for what im paying im not getting my money's worth. And YES howard has a lot of "groups" its JUST like high school to me

So, I'm not strong if I don't wear Prada? Is that seriously how you want to portray your school? I thank God for this site, because it's giving me the best insight on the student mind. And Howard students are clearly shallow, vapid, and ignorant. It's an all women's school for me.
P.S. The obvious joke would be to call me a lesbian. I hope you don't stoop so low as to say it. Cause that would just prove my point, y'know?
