I went to TCU from California. I LOVED my time at TCU. Here is what I think for each category:

Friendliness: TCU students for the most part are quite friendly. Yes, there are a lot of rich kids, but even they are quite friendly. Professors are good about remembering your name and asking how things are going. You feel good on this campus.

Academics: TCU has challenging classes that allow students to be free thinkers and make their own mistakes. Most students are serious about their studies and are involved in the class discussions. Professors are more than helpful if you seek them. Small class sizes and student to teacher ratio. Great preparation for both graduate studies and the real world.

Campus: Beautiful campus with nice facilities and a great work out center. The dorms for the most part are clean and relatively new. Restaurants, bars and clubs within walking distance. Green grass and lots of flowers. You feel safe on the campus and the neighborhoods close by are pretty nice.

Campus life: Lots of activities to get involved in. Fraternities, sororities, student government, newspaper, theatre, radio station, service groups, intramural sports, etc. Get involved and meet a lot of great people. If you're a freshman do Frog Camp and meet friends right off the bat.

Social life: A lot of fun. Always a party or something every weekend. Some students from the area go home, but a lot more stay around. I went to the Pub at least once every weekend and never got bored of it.

Variety of students: A ton of females go here, which guys probably like. Good looking student body. Contrary to popular belief, there are a lot of people from outside of Texas that go here and from outside of the country. The diversity isn't as bad as people make it out to be.

City: Dallas/Fort Worth is one of the best metro areas in the country. Fort Worth has a lot of great things like Joe T. Garcias (best margaritas!), Billy Bobs (Great country dance club), The Stockyards, Downtown, great bars, museums and theater. Dallas has pro sports, great clubs, tons of concerts, awesome restaurants and cool shopping. Six Flags is next door in Arlington, as is the Grapevine Mills. Tons of businesses equals great internship opportunities, and the weather is great. Mild winters and a lot of sunny days. If you get bored here you're not making an effort. Bring a car if you can so you can go explore it all. San Antonio, Austin, New Orleans, Mexico and the beach are fun road trips to take as well.

Study abroad: Tons of great programs. Highly recommended.

Overall: I loved this school and the times I had. TCU is a great opportunity to grow and try a lot of new things. Put yourself out there, meet people, get involved, stay on top of your studies, take chances and you'll have a ton of fun.
