So…………… WHERE did you find a normal good time or party? Are they off campus and how do you find them? What does the school offer on weekends? Does everyone just leave and go home or to another campus???? |
Major: Political Science (This Major's Salary over time)
Mary Wash was a good choice for me. The student makeup is not that diverse though, but they are working on improving that. I've read a lot of people weren't pleased with the social scene so I'll briefly comment on that. No fraternities and such means that there aren't Animal-House-esque parties. But I was into having a good time, shall we say and was never at a loss for finding one on or near campus with other like minded students. The other thing I read was that Mary Wash wasn't particularly hard to get into, that's just not true. What is more important is how difficult it is to stay in. A lot of Virginia schools are difficult to get into, but Mary Wash is significantly more difficult to stay in because of the rigorous academics in most departments. The good thing about the school is that employers know its reputation concerning academics and thus a solid B average from UMW means more than the same or higher from another say bigger Virginia school. The last comment I have is that its a liberal arts college, and its not ashamed of that. If you want research and grant work in your undergrad, especially in the sciences this isn't the place for you - but then again its not supposed to be.
