The University of Hawaii Manoa

I came here from A big city thinking that I was going to be less stressed out from school and to get away from all the distractions which come from living in the city you grew up in. I was right as well as wrong.

I will first start out with what I saw was a very BIG problem on this campus…student activity and involvement. Every week there is a movie shown on campus and that is their activity, oh and sorry did I forget to mention the same band comes to play their reggae music once in a while and this draws the crowd of pot heads on this campus. Ya, thats pretty much everyone here. The campus life is lame and I even joined a student organization to try to change it but it didn't change people people here are so damn close minded that they think if theres a DJ on campus it won't help the atmospehere!! Also, people are so mediocre about everything. In all my classes, the two years that I have been here, only the people from out of state speak their minds because the locals around here only speak when they are defending their people or their land. Its pretty rediculous. Another thing is, our whole class discussion can be on racism and how "white" people are racist and all these bad things about "white" people but then when we get on a topic that focuses on how the "local" or hawaiian community is, people's blood start boiling and they become enraged. I don't understand why the teachers allow the discussion of other races, then when it comes to the people of this "land", its a HUGE issue???

All people do is smoke weed all day and drink. There are no fun clubs to go to. Magoo's, which is a run down bar, basically lots of tables placed on cement with huge roaches that run across your feet and a cover from the rain is where everyone goes to hang out because its 'cool'.

If you want to even think about pursuing fashion here, don't! The fashion program sucks so badly. I mean no one here has been off of this rock and they think they know everything about what fashion has to offer! The program is filled with useless, uncreative minds that think they're the shit basically. No one has real creativity and people can't sew garments correctly. The teachers have no real experience and this department is a crock!

The last thing that I have to say about this shit hole is that everyone on campus, whichever office you go into is extremely unorganized and even higher ups can't speak english.

EVERYONE HERE SPEAKS BROKEN ENGLISH, ALSO KNOWN AS PIGEON! THEY THINK ITS SO COOL TO SPEAK IT BECAUSE IT MEANS THAT YOU ARE A LOCAL! IT MUST BE SO COOL TO SPEAK AN UNEDUCATED LANGUAGE BECAUSE THEN YOU FIT IN. ONLY HERE THOUGH BECAUSE WHEN THEY GO TO THE 'REAL WORLD' AKA THE MAINLAND LETS SEE HOW FAR THEY GO IN GETTING A PROFESSIONAL JOB.

THE FACT THAT YOU HAVE TO TAKE EXTRA COURSES BECAUSE YOU NEED TO LEARN ABOUT HAWAII IS SHIT! ISNT THAT WHAT HIGH SCHOOL IS FOR. ANYWAYS, IF YOU ARE THINKING OF COMING HERE, THINK AGAIN!
