I graduated in 2002. Bryn Mawr was the hardest experience of my life. If you can graduate, chances are, you can do anything (provided you didn't major in one of the "easy" majors, and by easy I mean, "easier" because there aren't any easy ones perse.) That is pretty much the only reason I didn't transfer. I had a few good friends at both BMC and Haverford and that's it. Pretty much we just made fun of how weird everyone else is, and weird is an understatement. There is no grade inflation. My typical schedule was class - eat - study - eat - study - sleep and that's it. I personally find joy in work, so I liked that aspect. I worked my butt off and could barely compete. When I was there, we actually had a few really cool parties. Swat had a drum ann bass party every month and towards the end BMC started having kick butt parties that put Haverford's to shame. Obviously you don't have any time to party, so when people finally make time, even though it's never there, it's bound to be crazy. I definitely went to my share and it was great. If you don't believe you have the dedication to give up everything for school, it's not a good fit. But if you feel like you do, it's a great experience. I made great friends and yes, you can meet boys at Haverford. It's not that they don't like you, it's that they're social retards so just go up and say "hi." I have some great guy and girl friends from there, but just like BMC, some of the students at Haverford leave a lot to be desired. I was at a party once and some Haverford chick said something about how we couldn't come to the party because we were from BMC and my Haverford female friend totally regulated on her. My point is that there are good and bad people everywhere. It's just harder to find the people you can bond with at BMC and Haverford so just put on your brave face and march up there and say "hi." If the people are worth a hoot anyway, that'll work. Chances are you will not be in the top of your class. Most everyone is very smart. I was always considered smart from a very young age, top classes always, gifted, ap classes, straight a's, you name it, and BMC was a shock. Take the top 10 people in your high school and then make them have no friends and study 10 hours a day and that's what 80% of your competition is like. Some of my friends transferred to U Penn, Brown, Emory, Harvard, and walked away laughing at what they were in comparison. One was able to go from a below average gpa to straight 4.0s at U Penn.. Yes, it's just not fair. Would I do it again? Probably not. But I'm glad I did because I know I can walk into anything now and not go insane. There is no other place where the experience is so overwhlemingly what you make of it.
