Major: Biology (This Major's Salary over time)
Vassar College is what you make of it. There is a diverse student body, as well as a diverse array of activities to choose from. Vassar is a college where you can really study and learn about what interests you. For example, I am a Biology major with an International Politics minor. There is a definite left tilt to the politics to the campus, but I feel that the campus is so left that people don't press the issue. I could wear a shirt that read "Vote Republican" and people would think it's a joke. However, if your views are challenged, most students want to hear why you believe what you believe.
My biggest piece of advice is to take advantage of Vassar's opportunities. If you are having a hard time with a group of people, change your crowd. There are plenty of people at Vassar to meet and learn from. Don't let yourself miss out on Vassar's advantages. If you have a problem, then you can fix it!Do not come to Vassar if you want the average, stereotypical college experience. Come to Vassar to learn and re-examine yourself. You may realize you have a love for a subject you have no previous interest in. I myself never took a politics class until this semester, and now am minoring in it. Vassar is a relaxed and invigorating place. I have NEVER seen inter-student competition over grades, I have NEVER felt disrespected, and I've found students here to have an overall good sense of humor and community. Vassar students know that Vassar is different, and are glad to live such an open and accepting community.
If you are considering Vassar, apply. Expect the unexpected.
