You'll probably read various times on this site that Mary Washington is like a high school, I'm basically just going to reiterate that fact. I suppose that if you enjoyed high school a lot you would also enjoy UMW as well. What people essentially mean when they say this is that a) Students are treated like children and a great deal of rules and restrictions are imposed on them b) Students have a tendency to be immature and clichish in a way that resembles high school c) the surrounding town is so dead that it feels like you are trapped at the school d) there is nothing fun to do on campus, ever!I'm transfering for next year and everyone I know wishes they could transfer. Most have resigned themselves to the idea that they just have to finish up the rest of college as quickly as possible and get the heck out. For anyone who expects to being entering into the "real world" when they get to college, this place isn't for you. If you enjoy a sheltered environment and if you wish high school would never end, then you'll love it here. Personally however, I never knew anyone who wasn't happy to graduate and get the heck out of high school.
