I chose to attend WVU after a bad experience at a very small expensice liberal arts college, thinking a big university experience would be better for me. I was wrong, or at least wrong about WVU. The problem is that it is so much a drinking culture school that you don't have a chance if you are the least bit too tempted to party and not study. It is virtually impossible to ignore or overcome the atmosphere of drinking and to a lesser extent, drugging. It's everywhere. I had a great time, made lots of buddies, met girls, etc. but as for actually going to class and learning something, forget it. I completely screwed up, and I thought I was ready for the temptations and could handle it. Again, I was wrong. THere's no where else to go, or any way to have a social life that doesn't involve getting and staying wasted 24/7. It's a joke. The whole town is geared toward it and none of the adults, faculty, administration etc gives a damn about it. If you have the slightest proclitity toward substance abuse or a drinking problem, turn around and run from this place, unless you want to end up unconsious for weeks at a time. Worst time of my life and I had to leave to save my life. Good luck if you actually want to do something other than get and stay f*ed up. Go to another, any other school. Everyone says it's like this everywhere, but that's B.S. It's far worse here than any other school I know of. Stay away if you want to protect yourself.
